smartly, adv:
- intelligently
- fashionably, elegantly
Would you love to plan your wedding smartly, in both senses of the word, but could really use some inspiration and advice along the way? If so, we’re here to help!
I’m Kim – I’m the exception to the “people don’t want to talk about your wedding as much as you do” rule, and I’ve loved weddings and wedding planning long before J.Lo made it a thing.
Smartly Wed was dreamed up shortly after my engagement, based on the things I had a hard time finding. I imagined a place where couples could find specifics about how to turn their wedding dreams into reality, a place where grooms are not an afterthought, a place where classic style is valued more than the latest Big Trend.
We want to bring you all of that, focused on our beloved, underrepresented-in-the-wedding-world hometown, Philadelphia, and the greater Philadelphia area. We’re here to help you have a smart wedding: savvy and stylish.
Who’s “we”? One of my first decisions was to enlist my sister, Steph, to be part of Smartly Wed. She’s worked as a wedding planner in Philadelphia and she’s amazing. She’s the Pippa to my Kate and I’m so glad she decided to join me on this adventure.
We’d love to know more about you and your interests – contact us at kim@besmartlywed.com or steph@besmartlywed.com, or connect with us on social media!
Kim is the brains behind Smartly Wed. When she is not designing, updating and finding content for the blog, Kim works as an assistant professor. Kim has been known to buy Christmas presents in June and spend a considerable amount of time making up a dance for SexyBack, and is quite possibly the most competitive (and victorious) trivia player you will ever meet. You will likely find Kim and her fiancé, Stephen, at a bar watching the Philadelphia Eagles at 10am in San Diego, where they currently live.
Steph is amazing. She’s the most generous, kind-hearted person I know – but be prepared for her razor-sharp comebacks (I wish I were that clever!) She worked as a Philadelphia wedding planner for several years, and is always ready with advice for brides- and grooms-to-be. When she’s not posting Instagram photos of her (admittedly adorable) Shih Tzu, she’s an elementary school teacher, an avid fan of Disney World, Harry Potter, and Philly sports, and a proud Temple alum.
